"Little Tulip"
Ink on water colour paper

One of the ink sketches I did for the March MPC group. I like the simplicity!

"Landscape" 12 brushstrokes

"Landscape" 12 brushstrokes
March MPC

This I found was a wonderful exercise in self control! Only 12 brushstrokes allowed. I completed 6 works but chose this one as I thought it felt more Japanese than any of the others, although there is one more I will post here and on my @Muddy Mama Shed Productions FB page. I was trying to achieve an Asian minimalist feeling to the work.

"Underneath" Pen, 21 x 30cm

Underneath

I was at a boring meeting with the lawyer a few days ago and a little doodle began to appear under my pen amongst my notes. When I got home I immediately redrew it larger on good paper...I love this...being able to see above and below the ground!

Monthly Painters Challenge, January

Eucalyptus Leaf

The brief for the Challenge was what you can see through a magnifying glass! My magnifying glass is only 2.5cm across so it really was a challenge!

I chose a dead leaf because I love anything organic and the most interesting section appeared to be the hole in the right side of the leaf. Also included live leaves and open flowers for a little variety.

I began in paint but ditched that very quickly! It suddenly seemed to me that pen was the way to go with lots of detail and cross hatching. Pencil for shadows within the dead leaf. I had completed a pen drawing the day before that I was very happy with. and I am happy I decided to go with pen for this too!

November Monthly Painting Challenge: Design for Fabric

This was fun! I chose the subject for this month, now that's a bit scary! You cant please everyone! But it was nice; the other artists seemed happy with it. :)

I began with watercolour paper. Decided to do some masking with aquadhere in a random sort of way and finished with watercolour when the aquadhere had a dried skin on it! I love to experiment and quite often only have a basic plan in my head.

I do like the way the glue spread a bit and provided some lovely lines from the paint brush. And because it was random I called it "Random".
